Retinal Laser Photocoagulation
- Laser Machine produces a concentrated beam of light that is directed on to retina.
- This laser beam is used to treat the diseased retina & seal weak blood vessels on retina.
- LASER TREATMENT is usually an outpatient procedure.Special eye drops are put in the eyes to numb them to reduce any discomfort during the procedure A contact lens is put on the eye to direct the laser light to the retina.
- Lasers are usually safe with few complications.
- Laser treatment may require more than one sitting to be effective.
- Laser treatment can only stop the progression of the retinopathy,it does not reverse the damage already done in diabetics.
