Retinal Laser Photocoagulation

  • Laser Machine produces a concentrated beam of light that is directed on to retina.
  • This laser beam is used to treat the diseased retina & seal weak blood vessels on retina.
  • LASER TREATMENT is usually an outpatient procedure.Special eye drops are put in the eyes to numb them to reduce any discomfort during the procedure A contact lens is put on the eye to direct the laser light to the retina.
  • Lasers are usually safe with few complications.
  • Laser treatment may require more than one sitting to be effective.
  • Laser treatment can only stop the progression of the retinopathy,it does not reverse the damage already done in diabetics.

(A) Diabetic Retinopathy (Effect of Diabetes on Retina)
(B) Hypertensive Retinopathy and Vascular Occlusions (Effect of Blood Pressure and Blockage of Vessels of Retina)
(C) Central Serous Retinopathy (Fluid under the Central Sensitive Layer of Retina)
(D) Myopic Retinal Degeneration and Retinal Holes to prevent Retinal Detachment.
(E) Age Related Macular Degeneration.
(F) Eales Disease, Intraocular tumors and others.
