The endoscope allows visualization and treatment of structures that would otherwise remain hidden. One part of the eye has remained hidden or difficult to see until fairly recently; the area behind the iris, including the ciliary body, ciliary processes, and the far anterior reaches of the peripheral retina and vitreous.

The Endoscope opens up this region of the globe for investigation, diagnosis and treatment. The beauty of the endoscopy system is that it provides endoscopy, endoillumination and endophotocoagulation [Laser] in the same probe of 23 and 20g size. For many years Cyclodestructive procedures have been used to treat refractory glaucoma with goal of diminishing aqueous production by ablating ciliary body processes. These procedures were usually performed by a trans sclera route , either by Cryotherapy or Laser Since the surgeon is not able to assess the targets being treated these procedures were not effective and were damaging to the adjacent tissues. With Laser endoscope one can very precisely and selectively treat the ciliary processes under direct visualization.
